Welcome to New Chapter® – Your Go-To for Career Coaching and Advocacy!

At New Chapter®, we’re all about helping you with career coaching and support, whether you’re an individual or a small business. Serving The Wairarapa, Wellington, and online, we’re here to help you move forward in your career and make the most of your skills and experiences.

Meet Edwin Perera – Your Career Coach
I’m Edwin Perera, and I’ve been in the career development game for nearly 12 years. My background includes work as a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant, University and TAFE Careers Consultant, and a specialist in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). I started New Chapter® to keep supporting people and businesses, helping you make the most of your career and get ahead.

Why Work with New Chapter®?
We get it—career stuff can be personal and sometimes confusing. While family or friends might offer good advice, it often doesn’t quite hit the mark. At New Chapter®, we take a detailed look at your career journey and use that to help you create strong digital profiles like CVs and LinkedIn pages. We focus on making sure your personal brand and career direction are spot on.

What We Offer
Here’s how we can help:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): We help you make the most of your existing skills and experiences to get formal qualifications and move forward in your career.
  • Personal Branding: Get noticed online and stand out in your field.
  • CV and Resume Boost: We’ll help you put together CVs and cover letters that make a real impact.
  • Interview Skills: Nail your interviews and job applications.
  • Training and Development: Find the right training and study options, including CPD.
  • Freelancer Support: Get your freelance business up and running.
  • Work-Life Balance: Practical advice for balancing work with being a parent or managing flexible work arrangements.

A Holistic Approach to Your Career
I follow Mason Durie’s (1981) Whare Tapa Wā theory, which considers the whole person—your spiritual, emotional, family, and wellbeing needs. I’m here to offer thoughtful, timely advice based on where you are right now.

Affordable Support for Everyone
We believe everyone should have access to career coaching. If cost is a concern, check out our Tuesday Koha sessions, where you pay what you can for the support you need.

Let’s Get Started
I’m excited to help you with your career journey. Let’s work together to make your career goals a reality and get the most out of your skills.

Best,

Edwin Paul Perera

Services Navigation

At New Chapter®, we offer a unique non-profit service called Services Navigation. The team, working alongside Edwin Paul, is dedicated to receiving, addressing, and resolving adult complaints, grievances, and policy miscommunications. Our ultimate goal is to help you navigate these services effectively and fairly.

We operate independently of the organisations we legally address to ensure our advice is impartial, always putting your interests first. Our operations are funded by donations, grants, bequests, and compassionate individuals who have experienced injustice firsthand or have a heart for our cause.

Services navigation is available in New Zealand, for organisations including ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation), MSD (Ministry of Social Development), MoJ (Ministry of Justice), New Zealand Police, Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand), and others on a case-by-case basis. We prioritise the needs of families and individuals in all our navigation efforts. If we are unable to assist you, we will direct you to a service that can meet your needs effectively.

Our work is guided by the CDANZ Professional Ethics Charter (see here). New Chapter is covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance, and is GST Registered in New Zealand (Aotearoa). Note: Our fund-raising activity is delivered through Open Collective using a funds holder umbrella charity in New Zealand who we duly pay 5% commission on all funds generate and received. You are welcome to donate to our cause(s).
