My pathway into careers coaching wasn’t linear —early setbacks and later wins taught me that careers rarely go to plan. Over 12 years, I’ve helped trades professionals, government workers, IT specialists, banking executives, athletes transitioning beyond sport, and others map out their next moves.
I don’t have all the answers, but I know what it’s like to rebuild and question everything. My approach is about careful listening and working through practical steps that actually move you forward.

A Holistic Approach to Your Career
We follow Mason Durie’s Whare Tapa Whā model (1984), which uses the whare (house) as a metaphor for wellbeing and taha the (sides). Each wall represents a different dimension of health that must remain strong and balanced:
- Taha Tinana (Physical wellbeing) – Your body and physical health
- Taha Hinengaro (Mental and emotional wellbeing) – Your thoughts, feelings and mental health
- Taha Whānau (Family and social wellbeing) – Your relationships and sense of belonging
- Taha Wairua (Spiritual wellbeing) – Your sense of purpose and connection to values
These four walls stand on Te Taiao (the environment) – the foundation that connects and influences all dimensions of wellbeing.
While Whare Tapa Whā is a Māori health model, its principles apply universally. At New Chapter®, ‘we’ view you as a whole person, considering how your physical, spiritual, social, and emotional needs intersect with your career transition.
